Well, your first week of teaching is done!
How do you feel your teaching went? Were the middle school students what you expected? What characteristics did they display that we discussed in class? Any funny moments? What can you do in your lesson planning to make it more enjoyable for this age group?
*If you've already made an entry on your teaching this week, that's okay, just edit it to make sure you answer these questions as well*

Check out this article that I found on MSNBC. What are your initial reactions to it? Why do you think injuiries have increased? What does this mean to you?

Inspirations
Please describe a role model in education or coaching that has been inspirational to you. Going off of class today, are there any teaching behaviors they really set forward? What do you want to take from them and use as being your own teacher/coach?
To the left is a picture of my fast pitch softball coach Joe Cataldo. He brought an expertise to the game
To the right is my travel hockey team. Down at the bottom of the picture is my coach Ovila Vautour. He also played hockey up in Canada and knew the game very well. More than that, he coached with his heart and really cared about all of his players. When we didn't want to play well for ourselves, we played well for him. I strive to have that bond with my athletes as well.

His experience playing semi-pro ball and his enthusiasm not only for our performance but for the game is something that always stuck with me. As a coach now, I try to teach my girls fundamentals and always be extremely excited about their progress and our team as a whole.

Post of your choice...
For your fourth entry, it may be one of your choice, OR, you may respond to the quote below.
"The best teacher is one who suggests, rather than dogmatizes, and inspires his listener with the wish to teach himself." - Edward Bulwer-Lytton
1) What does this quote mean?
2) Do you agree/disagree?
3) Can you relate to this, not only as a student, but also as a teacher?
If you choose to do an entry of your own, it may be on anything you'd like, as long as it is appropriate, thoughtful, and covers something substantial.

Week 2 - Blog Entry 1: "Speaking his mind, or crossing the line?"
Last night on MTV was the Video Music Awards (VMAs). How do you feel about Kanye interupting Taylor Swift's acceptance speech? Was he exercising his right to freedom of speech or did he cross the line? Was it Beyonce's place to give up her award speech for Taylor? How do you feel about MTV in general? Do you think they provide us with a needed service? As a teacher for middle school students, how do you think they view MTV?

Your First Entry
Welcome to blogspot everyone! I will be posting all of the topics here, as well as entries of my own. Feel free to elaborate on all of your posts as much as you would like, but also be sure to fully answer the question.
So, for your first entry, please write about what you were like as a middle school student! Did you enjoy middle school? What was your PE program like? As a new teacher, what is your view on middle school students? Have you had any experience with this age level teaching, coaching, or with siblings? What are your expectations of this module?
**Don't forget to post pictures with each entry!**
Above is a picture from when I was in middle school. I was putting my younger brother, Ian, into a devastating headlock. At this point I thought I was a "cool older sister" and liked to harrass him. Today he's my best friend but I do sometimes feel bad for all the things I put him through!
